The Afternoon Slump

Here is my predicament: I eat a healthy, balanced breakfast with protein to help keep me full. Then I eat an equally healthy lunch. Generally, I bring a snack to eat after lunch but I am so full I cannot eat it.

However, then I get in the car to go home from work. And It hits! The AFTERNOON SLUMP!

By this I mean that every time I get in the car to go home from work my body goes from full/satisfied to RAVENOUSLY hungry instantaneously. And every restaurant, grocery store, and fast food joint on my way home look and smell like heaven! It doesn't make any sense!!!! How could I possibly get that hungry that fast?

By the time I resist all of these urges, I get home, check the mail, walk the dog, and immediately open the fridge. It's often hard to resist choosing an unhealthy snack between 4-5:30PM.

Do you experience the afternoon slump? How do you combat it? What can I do to combat mine?

By the way, I am happy to report that since starting this blog I have lost approximately 4 lbs. I still have a long way to go, but I am confident that I can get there. Just keep swimming, right!?!

Have a great weekend! Enjoy the weather!

XOXO,
M

Yay, congrats on the 4lbs. That is awesome! Well, sometimes I too hit rock bottom after working out, and then cooking dinner around 7:30 most nights. Since I eat lunch at Noon, I often go a long time without anything but water. If dinner is taking too long I sometimes munch on some Sweet Potato chips, or eat one slice of cheese. I should probably eat a snack around 3:30-4ish on days before a workout, just to give me that extra boost of energy. String cheese would be anther good option.

Keep up the good work! :)

It happens to all of us, especially when we eat lunch early. i'm not about force feeding, but if you eat that afternoon snack right before you get ravenous it helps. Today I was not that hungry around 4ish when i got home but made myself eat some cottage cheese and fruit...good thing, because about 5 min later I was ravenous and that took care of the issue.

it also helps me to go for a walk or a workout before dinner, I don't normally workout at night, but if I do before dinner I don't eat as much.

Miss you friend...can't wait until Saturday. Keep up the good work!
