Alas, I think the chicken wing will always be an issue for me.
Any who, on to the source of my frustration:
WATER
Yesterday, I was instructed by a doctor to drink more than a gallon of fluids a day. Of this gallon, one quart must be lemonade- don't ask, I have kidney issues.
So I did some research into water.
Obviously, the effects of water on weight are well known. Drink more, lose more. Flush it out. Stay hydrated. Replace what you sweat out. ETC ETC . . .
BUT, what about if I am watching my sodium intake? Drinking more than a gallon of water a day could likely kill me. (Bear with my hypochondria here for a minute.)
Obviously, I see the pluses:
- Burning additional calories
- Speeding up my metabolism
- washing away the increased protein in my kidneys
- staying hydrated
- Making you feel full longer
- Suppressing the appetite
- THE LIST GOES ON . . . .
But what about the very real, and often forgotten minuses (please remember, I am not talking about drinking 8 glasses of water a day- I am talking about doubling that! 16 glasses, 128 oz., 1 GALLON!!)
OK, so maybe that's the only minus I can think of, and maybe that just means I can afford to feel less guilty about my 98% Fat Free, Healthy Harvest, Reduced Everything else, FULL Sodium Soups that I enjoy so much?
Here are a couple of other articles I found interesting on water and dieting.
Article on water and weight loss- including the risk of sodium imbalance.http://walking.about.com/cs/howtoloseweight/a/water011204.htm
Here's an article I found that's just for fun. It discusses the top 10 LEAST healthy foods and how to detox from them using water:

I hope this keeps you as entertained at work today as it did me.
Stick with it!
XOXO,
M

The shepherd's pie looked awesome last night. You didn't miss anything with the wings, trust me!
I think having a workout buddy is the best way to reduce boredom, and extra motivation to stay on track. I am here for you girl! Barton needs to get a membership so we can all workout together! There are a ton of classes being taught this term...let me know if you want to go to any of the evening classes, we could set-up a schedule: http://www.recsports.ufl.edu/udocs/GF%20FALL%2008%20Schedule%20(website).pdf.
And I am free for a morning jog on Saturday.... :)
For tonight's workout: You should go for a short run, either outside, or do intervals on the treadmill. Then do a circuit with the weights: bicep curls, pushups, lunges with weights in your hands really works the butt and quads, crunches, and then another burst of cardio. With the weights, the more time between reps builds muscle, if you do more reps in your sets you will build leaner muscle. I've really gotten into the ball for crunches, whew, that is intense.
I also found these workouts that look great:

Jodi,
You are the best!
On the H20, I literally drink over a gallon a day...sometimes I wonder if I drink too much, but I haven't perished yet. I do pee quite a lot. Julie must wonder why I am up and down all day.
With too much water you'd want to watch it if you were going to run a long race-like a marathon-some runners do drink incredibly too much (i don't even know how they do it) and run the risk of H20 intoxification. You should be fine...just have more of your low cal, high sodium soups you love!
On the exercise, I agree with Jodi. Having a buddy is the best. I never had one pre-LJ...and prob won't have another after her, but it makes all the difference. It is why I'm able to be up at this ungodly hour. When you make plans you don't want to let the other person down. Sometimes I'm not in the mood and having her there pulls me through it, and vice versa. It is getting to the point where the weather will be really nice and being outside will feel good again. Try some walk/run's, or a little circuit like warming up with a dog walk (since she maxes out at 10 min), then a 10 min bike ride, then 10-15 min of a walk/run interval...my advice on carido (bc I hate any form that isn't running) is to mix it up. Classes also help a lot. I am going to try to get you a 30 day GHFC pass.
All in all the fact that you are trying and troubleshooting workout/diet difficulties is a positive thing. By doing this you find what works for YOU and you will be successful.
Look at me, cheerleader at 5am before a sip of coffee...feel special :-)
